What to See and Do
Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum
The Thyssen in Madrid is one of the most important private art collections in Europe, installed in 1992. The remodelled Palacio de Villahermosa took place in 1990. The adaptation of this previous bank underwent serious modifications in order to provide the right setting for the gallery. The gallery itself also had further work done, as an expansion project took place in or to exhibit the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza collection to the public. Head over to this magnificent museum and explore over 7 centuries worth of art and culture of Madrid.

Madrid’s local bus company is known as EMT. They offer 2,000 blue buses serving more than 200 lines between the downtown area and residential neighborhoods. Normal buses run daily from 6 a.m. until 23:30, every 5 to 15 minutes depending on the line and time of day. At night, a limited service of nocturnal buses known as búhos (“owls”) runs from 23:45 until 6 a.m. the next morning, every 15-30 minutes. This transport ticket is valid for all of Madrid’s Metro and Bus services within the city, together with the local suburban trains and the inner-city light railway. The surcharge normally added to the price of a Metro ticket from the airport is also included.
The pass is available for 1, 2, 3, 5 or 7 days, and can be purchased for Zones A or T. Most of our visitors will require a pass for Zone A only, which covers all locations within Madrid’s city centre including the airport. It is unlikely that you require Zone T tickets, unless you need transport to villages and towns within Madrid’s autonomous region but outside the city of Madrid itself.
